When Jennifer Chacón Salas decided to get into business consulting, her partner encouraged her to consider getting an MBA. For two-and-a-half years she’d been working in Costa Rica as a risk and advisory services manager for a U.S. company.

High Blood Pressure Research
As part of its broader commitment to research on cardiovascular diseases, the NHLBI leads and supports research and programs on high blood pressure. The NHLBI has funded several studies and programs to help develop new treatments for high blood pressure, many of which focus on women’s health, lifestyle interventions, and health disparities. Current studies aim to prevent pregnancy complications and improve blood pressure among people in high-risk groups.
Cystic Fibrosis Research
Today, no cure exists for cystic fibrosis. But for decades, NHLBI has led and supported research on the disease, and those efforts have brought about more and better treatment options. Cystic fibrosis is caused by mutations, or changes, in the gene that affects the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein.
